You will be part of HVDC within the Power Systems division in Västerås. The HVDC technology has been on the market for the past 50 years and is used to transmit power over long distances at minimal loss, using overhead lines, land and sea cable systems. As R&D engineer at the research and development department at HVDC, you will acquire new knowledge within several different areas. You will operate within a unit at the forefront of energy transmission. However, we do not stop there. We want to continue moving the boundaries for what is possible. You will be backed up by a competent organization where you will work with a clear goal in mind and reality based problems.
Your task will be to develop real-time models and perform simulations as well as contributing to the technology and design solutions for DC Grids. The role will provide you with great opportunities to establish a stable and wide network within ABB as well as take you on several exciting business trips. You will grow both personally and professionally.

You need to have at least PhD in Energy Systems or equivalent competence via experience. You should also have experience from systems and product related R&D projects within electrical power. Since you will be working in a global organization with several international contacts you need to be proficient in English. To be successful in this position you need to have a strong drive, be goal-oriented and have the ability to reach results. In other words, you need to be a natural team player, who is responsive and can coordinate competencies as well as having a holistic approach to projects. Another ability of yours is natural skills to create enthusiasm and engaging colleagues to work towards common goals. Moreover, you have to be able to communicate efficiently with coworkers and partners.
