About the position:
Our team responsible for our new business, Core Plate Varnish, is hiring a Research & Development Engineer for 1 year. You will be covering up for one of our team members who will be on study leave. In this role, you will be part of the automotive industry revolution helping our customers to build the most efficient E-motors. You will collaborate and communicate with our Long-Term Research team in Liverpool and with our Beckers France R&D team, since we share responsibilities in some of the projects. Your main work will be performed in a chemistry lab, but you will also present your results on-line to the rest of the CPV members in Europe and support the Swedish team with upscaling and production related issues. You will also help adapt the formulations to customer requirements.
Your responsibilities and deliverables:
Develop and modify new and existing formulations / products within the Core Plate Varnish portfolio in collaboration with Beckers LTD and Beckers France.
Develop/adapt new/existing formulations according to customer specifications.
Create experimental plans, translate them into laboratory work and evaluate results critically, re-designing new experiments.
Evaluate new raw materials.
Support upscaling, production and, if necessary, quality control.
Document your work and present results in a technical manner.
Your profile:
You have a university degree (MSc or PhD) in chemistry or chemical engineering, preferably with a focus on Polymer Chemistry, Materials/Surface Chemistry or Organic Chemistry, with good experience of laboratory work. Experience from the paint, coating or surface treatment industry is a strong merit. Fluency in English (written and spoken) is a must. Some travel within Europe (and UK) will occur.
Your personality:
You are thorough in your lab work, responsible, and easy to work with. You love chemistry and working in the lab, but you are not afraid of the industrial environment. You can make your own assessments, are innovative and proactive, and you can analyse your own results in a critical way to adapt your new experiments. You have good communication skills in speech and writing in English (corporate language). You are used to documenting and presenting your work, you are independent in your daily work.
