R&D Engineer Control Systems with initiative
The challenge: Would you like to focus on concept development and architectural overview of control systems, rather than on detail implementation issues? As our new R&D Engineer Control Systems, you will be involved in turning our development projects into real, viable products. You will also work with the modularization of software and hardware to maximize standardisation and re-usage. Mostly, you will be involved in the early stages of our R&D projects to develop the hardware and software architecture for our new products. In this position you will get the opportunity to grow in an R&D Project Manager role and to create a career - as a manager or a specialist - if you have the drive and the right personality. A natural and integral part of your work will be to collaborate with other ABB units all over the world, as well as Corporate Research and universities.
The requirements: You hold an MSc or a PhD in Electrical/Power Engineering or Computer Science, which you combine with a few years' relevant experience. You have an innate interest in Real Time Systems, Communication, IT, Power Technology and/or Control Theory and applications. It is highly qualifying if you have previous experience from development of real time control systems. Another prerequisite is that you have excellent communication skills. As an R&D Engineer it is a necessity that you are creative and able to think outside the box. Equally important is your ability to work independently, as well as collaborate with others, and to initiate problem solving. As a part of our multicultural environment, you must also be open and interested in meeting people from various cultural backgrounds.
You will be a part of ABB FACTS in Västerås - a part of the division Power Systems. FACTS is a joint name for a group technical solutions that increases safety, capacity and flexibility within power transmission systems. Our plants thus make it possible for grids owners to transmit higher effect in their existing grids. Our clients are power companies, railway companies and larger industries all over the world. And almost 100 percent of our plants are exported. At FACTS in Västerås, we are today approximately 240 people with competences in areas such as marketing, sales, project management, technical construction and site work.
ABB (www.abb.com) is a global leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve their performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs about 117,000 people.
