The Cemented Carbide Technology team at Seco Tools is passionate about research and innovation. With competence and expertise from different areas, we actively engage in our common mission to develop the future of cemented carbides.
We're now looking to complement our research team with a driven and competent R&D Engineer. This is an opportunity to join one of the world's largest providers of metal cutting solutions for the machining industry - and a collaborative environment with the vision to shape the future of materials development!

Briefly about the job
As an R&D Engineer in our team, your responsibility spans all the way from raw materials and powders to finished product. Material development throughout the full process: from new ideas connected to market needs, hands on characterization in our laboratory, cooperation with our production and finally supporting grade projects introducing new products to the market.
While evaluation of suitable methods, tools and processes is a natural part of development work, engaging in external projects and in collaboration with universities is also part of your work. Furthermore, you continually develop your own knowledge, as you capture and develop new ideas and apply them in a way that adds value to the business. You also share skills and best practices, and you support colleagues in professional growth while taking responsibility for our abilities to deliver.
You're based at our facility in Fagersta and this position allows for a hybrid working schedule where remote work is possible a couple of days per week. Planned travel is a part of your job, within Sweden as well as internationally.

Your profile
We're looking for someone with either a master's degree in a relevant technical field, a PhD or relevant industrial experience. You have applicable experience in materials science, metallurgy and/or powder processing and characterization. Knowledge and experience of materials modelling tools is beneficial. Navigating in an international setting as this one calls for excellent English skills while knowing Swedish is a plus.
To be a great fit for this position and in our Seco family, you're curious and have a true passion for research and materials development. Therefore, we put a lot of emphasis on your personality - being a team player, you're able to balance a collaborative and independent workflow. You have an analytical mindset, an eye for details and are keen to share ideas and knowledge between yourself and your colleagues.
