Vattenfall Research and Development AB is a centre of competence for the R&D work performed by one the most exciting energy groups in Northern Europe. Vattenfall Research and Development conducts development projects in the Nordic countries, Poland and Germany, and has a total of some 220 employees. Our operations are focused on Älvkarleby and Stockholm in Sweden, Berlin in Germany and Fredericia in Denmark and we have a branch office in Edinburgh in Scotland, close to university relations. We are in an interesting phase of development with a growing internationalisation of our activities.A prioritized R&D area of Vattenfall is Ocean energy, where Vattenfall Research & Development plays a key role. We already cover several areas of competence to support Ocean energy R&D, ranging from energy systems and environmental issues to mechanical aspects.
Now we seek visionary and competent engineers who will take part in strengthening and developing our R&D-centre within Ocean Energy Technology. Location will be at one of Vattenfall Research and Development AB’s offices preferably in Edinburgh. The position will include frequent trips to offices in Group as well as to our partners in UK and Ireland.
Responsibilities and tasksVattenfall has a close cooperation with several manufactures of wave power devices and you will be closely involved in development activities together with our partners. Being a key person in our Ocean Energy Team you will undertake several interesting tasks:
The job provides great opportunities to participate in the development of technology and methods for operation and integration of future ocean energy devices in Vattenfalls production portfolio.
Dependent on your ideas, interests and experience the positions provide the possibility of focusing on areas within power take off systems, generator technology, anchoring and foundations, system integration, park design, production optimization and strategies pointing forward for operations and maintenance of ocean energy farms.
The development work means a close and giving co-operation with Vattenfalls employees in UK and within the rest of the Group together with research institutes, producers and organizations at home and abroad.
Management and coordination of activities within Vattenfall Ocean Energy Program
Depending on your personality, qualifications and interests you will be considered for a task as Country Manager acting as the office leader in Edinburgh.
Qualifications You have an engineering education (energy, machine, civil) or another relevant academic background. A PhD degree is considered an additional plus
Besides your education it is important that you have gained experience within ocean energy systems on a professional level and that you are enthusiastic for working with development in a practical perspective.
Personal skillsYou are extroverted, communicating and comprehensive thinking. You motivate and inspire in a way so that your messages get through. You work independently as well as in teams and are responsible. You possess good interpersonal skills and like to work across the organization. You know how to communicate widely within a company and you feel comfortable in busy and effective surroundings.
