About the department of Mechatronics
The rapid growth of electrically driven and electronically controlled systems in all types of vehicles creates an increasing need for challenging research and development. Within the domain of Mechatronics, we perform R&D activities in order to secure key properties like safety, energy efficiency and reliability of products from the Volvo Group and other selected customers. Our engineers cover a wide range of multidisciplinary engineering sciences.
Control system engineering in particular is a key competence within this development and we are now looking for experienced engineers to strengthen our teams.
Job description:
Your skills in control engineering will be used in a variety of application areas. You will work with powertrain, chassis and climate systems as such but also with the integration of these systems. The aim is often to optimize complete vehicle properties such as energy efficiency, driveability, safety and comfort. One example of this is optimal control and energy management for hybrid vehicle concepts. Work tasks will span all phases from research, concept analysis and advanced engineering to prototype and product development.
In this position, your ability to be a driving force within the area of applied control engineering is crucial.
Typical tasks include:
Research and advanced engineering related to powertrain and vehicle control systems
Propose, plan and coordinate public funding and Volvo internal R&D projects
Develop and adapt methodology for advanced robust and optimal control in an industrial context
Design of control system architecture
Simulation, analysis and control function development with Matlab/Simulink
Networking with automotive industry and academic units
As a professional within your area of expertise, you will listen to and analyse stakeholder?s needs in the process of transforming technical knowledge into true customer value.
Qualifications:
Minimum MSc, preferably PhD, degree in control engineering or equivalent
A solid background in the analysis and design of control systems
Several years of work experience in control system engineering development, automotive beneficial
Ability to create new solutions and concepts with a focus on customer needs
Like to work on your own initiative and undertake responsibility
Analytical skills and holistic view
An interest in leading individuals and teams
You have an open and positive attitude, good communication skills (English required) and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing conditions
The job is dependent of a good network within and outside the company; therefore your ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain such networks in different areas in a global multi-cultural environment is essential
