Sandvik Coromant is the world's leading supplier of tools and know-how to the metalworking industry. At the forefront of global manufacturing, we pride ourselves on pushing boundaries and testing limits. We rethink, redesign and redefine to figure out what is possible to achieve. Together with our customers, we shape the future!

We are now looking for an R&D Engineer to our Materials Design and Sintering team in Västberga, Stockholm. Joining us, you get to work with research and development of new cemented carbide materials and sintering processes. We aim to secure adequate IP protection for our technology platforms and cutting-edge technology for our future products, and you have access to be a true innovator in our well-equipped laboratory with sintering furnaces and equipment for thermal analysis. Welcome to an important role within a core technological area for Sandvik Coromant's future business!

Your mission
In the role as R&D Engineer, you actively participate in, and lead, R&D projects for the development of sintering processes and cemented carbide materials for use in our future cutting tool grades. Taking part in different technology and product development projects, you add value by sharing your expertise and know-how about cemented carbide materials and sintering processes. Using thermal analyses methods - such as TG, STA and DSC - and performing experiments in our pilot scale sintering furnaces are also exciting parts of your job. In addition, you work with the industrialization of new technologies in our production and you are an important contributor in external R&D projects.

Your character
We are looking for someone with a MSc or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or other relevant field, combined with experience from working with R&D of powder materials and related processes. You are also experienced in project work, and we consider proven project management skills as advantageous. Additional knowledge in the areas of modeling and simulation, material characterization and cutting technology is highly valuable. As we are a truly global organization, you need excellent verbal and written skills in Swedish and English.

Your outgoing personality and passion for sharing knowledge is central to us. You enjoy working in a setting where collaboration is key, and with your energy and commitment, you utilize the experience of an entire team or network to push the boundaries and drive development. You also have an analytical and structured working style and the patience needed to undertake tests and technical experiments, combined with keeping detailed and accurate records of your observations. Equally important, you are a natural communicator, who easily establish trust and productive relations with both internal and external stakeholders.

At Sandvik Coromant, we believe that diversity of experience, perspective and background will lead to a better environment for our employees, our business, and thereby, our customers.
