hela Sverige The R&D department is now launching a dedicated AM Design Team in order to quickly elaborate on how to best use the new design features made available by AM and to establish engineering practice relating to that.
The AM design team will:
• Build up AM design and simulation know-how in an efficient way, by team members working in close co-operation on different components & disciplines and both new components and repair AM-projects
• Build up, document and communicate knowledge and findings regarding design, materials, lifing and heat transfer, for AM topics
• Consist of colleagues from our PG DG sites Finspång, Lincoln & Montreal and work closely within the global AM community within Siemens
• Develop efficient Way of Workings with an "AM mindset", for the whole chain from idea to metal
• Plan, execute & evaluate validation tests for new concepts
What are my responsibilities?
In this cross-functional AM team you will work as a designer, in close collaboration with our experts from the fields of material, heat transfer and lifing.
Your tasks will include:
• In development projects including AM, work with modelling and methods development on gas turbine core engine components
• Participate in planning, execution and evaluation of validation tests of concepts
• Work in AM project for both new components (R&D) and repair of components (Service R&D)
• Be pilot user for the new version NX11 that includes AM modules, and establish new way-of-working regarding modelling and drawings

R&D Design Engineers to cross-functional AM Design Team
The Additive Manufacturing (AM) technique opens up new opportunities for concepts of hot gas turbine components. Do you want to be a part of developing the next generation of AM concepts, and the related methods? Siemens has recently invested in a unique 3D printing workshop in Finspång, with emphasis on the SLM technique (Selective Laser Melting). The AM technique enables brand new ways to design components with improved functionality and shortened lead time. This requires new engineering skills for design and simulation of parts, and new methods are being developed in several areas like concept generation, heat transfer, lifing and materials.
