Of course, there is no magic - saving resources on the client means using them on servers. How many servers, you may ask? Enough to handle millions of open browser tabs at the same time. However, computing power alone is not enough - you need a group of highly skilled, highly motivated engineers that will tell the machines what to do, and how. That's where you come in!
We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Opera Mini Server Core team. Have you ever dreamed of making a real impact on the way people communicate? Due to the small size of the team and the magnitude of the task at hand, we don't have strict distinctions between the roles.
We are looking for a Quality Engineer to work on a messaging web service called Hype, that can handle millions of users being online with a throughput of thousands of messages per second.
Are you the one we are looking for?
Are you a highly skilled, highly motivated IT engineer who can work independently?
Are you able to understand how distributed systems work (DHT, clusters, master node selection, etc),?
Are you experienced with evented/event-loop based I/O
Do you enjoy learning and using new esoteric programming languages?
Do you have a good knowledge of the Linux Operating System?
Do you like being given a lot of freedom but understand that it comes with great responsibility?
Are you more proud of your contributions than your certificates and diplomas?
Do you continuously look for ways to improve, both personally and professionally?
Do you have a good communication skills and fluency in English
