DICE (EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment), the award-winning developer based in Stockholm, Sweden, is best known for creating the successful Battlefield franchise with the widely acclaimed Battlefield 4 being the latest installment. DICE is also home of Star Wars: Battlefront, as well as being the creators of Mirror's Edge.
The challenge ahead
Reporting to the Studio/Franchise QA Manager, the Project Delivery Manager (PDM) works alongside the production and development teams to ensure successful operational delivery of the QA Strategy.
A PDM will be responsible for the day to day QA delivery and support of a product. They will handle operational delivery, tracking and ensuring successful execution and reporting of critical tasks along with prioritization of ad hoc tasks from Dev and QA. They will work closely with the onsite Development QA Team as well as offsite Test Centre support so will need to be skilled at tracking multiple deliverables both locally and remotely.
They will work alongside Production, Dev Management and Tech Leads to build strong plans that incorporate Automation, Tech and Defect Prevention/Containment as well as more traditional black box testing methods. They will also work on maintaining and managing the relationship between the Development Team and QA.
They will need solid technical and project management skills to drive effective Defect Containment and Prevention processes with the onsite QA Team and align that with black box testing in the offsite Test Centre.
The role requires strong Project Management and Communication skills as work will be coordinated between multiple sites and time zones. All groups will need to be clear on plans, deliverables and success criteria. The PDM needs to be innovative, flexible, proactive and dedicated.
The PDM will also be responsible for prioritizing multiple tasks from different teams and coordinating the Quality Analyst resources within the central support team to expedite against these requests in a timely manner. Examples of such requests are playtest coordination, log captures, smoke testing, setting up test kits, regression testing, telemetry hook verification and Live QA support testing.
QA - With quality in mind - QA support the creation of great games - creatively, commercially and technically.
Responsibilities
• Ensure Operational Delivery of a Title from Concept to Post-Launch.
• Help drive QA Evolution via Defect Prevention/Containment and Test Automation.
• Coordinate multiple disciplines and Teams to deliver in a rapidly changing environment.
• Collaborate with Development partners and balance Development - Support tasks against QA Delivery work.
• Recognise, communicate and mitigate risks to project delivery.
• Ensure all high quality, pertinent and accurate reports are delivered.
• Use all available Tools to track and report on quality and delivery.
• Actively contributes to strategic planning and ensures plans will deliver project on time, quality and budget.
• Proactively make process improvements project wide, identifies patterns and new solutions.
