Do you thrive in a flexible, fast-paced startup setting, where your testing directly shapes the product and every day brings a new challenge?
Who we are:
Blue Cromos AB is a Swedish software company pioneering brand protection through patented and innovative SaaS solutions that integrate cutting-edge AI and classic computer vision. Our platform empowers industries like manufacturing, logistics, pharma, luxury goods and automotive, delivering seamless quality assurance from the factory floor to the end user. We are a diverse, close-knit team of about 15, including management, engineers, architects, and testers, united by creativity, technical excellence, and a commitment to solving real client problems.
What you'll do:
As a QA Engineer, you will take a key role in strengthening our quality assurance practices across mobile, web, and data-driven systems. You will collaborate closely with developers, ML/CV engineers, and product stakeholders to plan and execute testing activities, improve our QA strategy, and help build a more systematic approach to quality.
Your responsibilities will include:
Owning end-to-end testing of our mobile app and web dashboards, from exploratory testing to structured test cases.
Designing, maintaining, and running automated tests (e.g. with pytest, BrowserStack or similar tools).
Creating and maintaining test plans, test cases, and regression suites in a test management tool.
Logging, prioritizing, and following up on issues together with developers in our issue tracking system.
Testing data-driven and AI-supported features, validating datasets and checking system behavior across different scenarios and environments.
Performing exploratory testing, identifying edge cases, and challenging assumptions to uncover risks early.
Contributing to QA processes and strategy: helping us improve how we plan testing, structure releases, and connect QA with development and R&D.
Collaborating on performance and reliability checks, including testing on different devices, OS versions, and network conditions.
Working hands-on with real hardware (phones, cameras, sample products), helping to create realistic test setups and environments with various lighting conditions and use cases.
Depending on your profile and interests, you may also:
Support testing of camera and optics-related use cases, considering glare, reflections, and different lighting setups.
Contribute to basic scripting, tools, or small utilities in Python to support automation, data validation, or test setup.
You're a great fit if you have:
min 3 years of experience as a QA Engineer or Software Tester.
Solid experience testing mobile and web applications end-to-end.
Strong understanding of QA fundamentals, best practices, and common tools.
Hands-on experience with test automation (e.g. pytest, BrowserStack, or similar frameworks).
Practical experience with issue tracking tools and test case management systems.
Familiarity with REST APIs and tools like Postman or Swagger.
Python programming skills sufficient to write and maintain automated tests and small internal tools (not just "basic" scripts).
Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tools (ideally GitHub Actions or similar).
Experience testing data-driven systems and validating datasets.
Strong exploratory testing skills and the ability to identify edge cases and risky scenarios.
Understanding of performance and reliability considerations in distributed/mobile systems.
Experience testing across different devices and environments, especially mobile.
Good communication skills and ability to work closely with developers, designers, and ML/CV engineers.
Strong attention to detail, structured way of working, and an ownership mindset.
Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving requirements.
Transparent and responsive working style: you work efficiently and independently while valuing team input, actively seeking feedback, and asking for support when needed.
Nice to have:
Understanding of computer vision / AI concepts (classification vs detection, datasets, training/validation).
Familiarity with evaluating ML model performance (e.g. precision, recall, false positives/negatives).
Experience testing AI systems with probabilistic outputs.
Familiarity with logs, monitoring tools, and debugging production issues.
Ability to think in adversarial scenarios and potential system abuse, including basic security testing.
Genuine interest in photography and camera hardware, with an understanding of how different lighting conditions and specular reflections affect image quality.
Experience working with camera setups, optics, or other imaging hardware.
We are open to different profiles: you might be a QA engineer with a strong software testing and automation background who is curious about hardware and imaging, or someone with deeper camera/photography experience who wants to grow their software testing skills.
What makes us different:
Direct impact: Your work moves the needle - every idea can become a production feature or a new testing practice.
Trust & teamwork: A tight, supportive team where collaboration, initiative, and constructive feedback are valued.
Startup energy: Flexible hours, extra vacation, wellness allowance, many fun team activities, and a cozy office environment in Malmö.
Growth opportunities: Mentorship, the chance to help shape our QA strategy and processes, and room to expand your role towards automation, tooling, or hardware-focused testing.
What we're looking for (mindset)
Problem-solver with excellent analytical and open-minded mindset.
Self-driven but collaborative - you own your tasks and actively engage with the team.
Comfortable switching between structured test plans and exploratory sessions, and between manual and automated testing.
Motivated by challenges, eager to learn, and ambitious about your professional growth.
Additional details
Permanent, full-time position.
Onsite in Malmö (our expectation is that you primarily work from the office, with some hybrid flexibility possible).
Candidates must already be based in Sweden.
Start date: As soon as possible
