The International School of Älmhult is a warm, friendly and welcoming school. We are truly international in many senses. There are 47 different nationalities and backgrounds represented amongst our students. We also strive to employ a diverse community of teachers. This year we can boast teachers coming from 34 different countries. We are an IB school, which means that we are progressive and work to develop the skills for the 21st century and prepare our students for an ever-changing world. The school has developed and grown over the past five years, so we now have around 500 students. In 2017, we moved into our new home: a modern and eco-friendly building, with a lot of open space and light.
WORK TASKS
International School of Älmhult (ISÄ) is growing rapidly and are now looking for four new PYP homeroom teachers. As a PYP homeroom teacher you undertake transdisciplinary classrooms and create an inclusive environment for all our students. You are responsible of teaching your students within the PYP IB curriculum and provide a structured and engaging learning environment. This means that you prepare and plan your classes and complete the documentations required. As a teacher you encourage every student to feel important and to become moral individuals. You work alongside your colleagues and collaborate closely with teachers, assistants, students and parents to facilitate learning. You are part of a PYP team and together you focus on collaborative planning and learning. When needed, you will attend team and subject collaboration meetings and training as well as assemblies, evening events, conferences and parental meetings. At ISÄ we are open to learn new pedagogy. Our language of instruction is English, therefore the applicant must have a good command of spoken and written English.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant will have an appropriate level of education (university or similar). You are qualified to teach students age 5-12 and knowledgeable in PYP Homeroom teaching. We are looking for someone who is ready to inquire and curious to look for solutions. You are able to take initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively in your classroom management and teaching-learning environment. As a teacher you communicate effectively and collaborate willingly with colleagues, students and parents. Collaboration is a key word in our school. You are open to express your ideas and information creatively, and in many ways in the classroom and with your colleagues. We know that you might not have all the answers, but are courageous to explore new roles, ideas and classroom strategies. Our school is multicultural, and you must have an interest in working in an international environment with different cultures.
