Customized solutions is a department within Purchasing with a strong customer focus where speed and flexibility are cornerstones. More than half of the department consists of all the purchasers located at our Business Units (BU's) and they are organised in four regions. We are now looking for a Purchasing Manager responsible for our BU's in Western and Southern Europe.
The internal customer is Commercial Operations and our BU's, and together with them, we are developing new ways of working within purchasing and can offer a very challenging and entrepreneurial environment. We are leveraging volumes and spend across countries and are spreading global best practices in Purchasing across the globe.
Job Description
You will be the link between Scania's central purchasing organisation and our BU's. Since Purchasing is working cross-functionally you will come in contact with all areas of a BU such as new vehicle sales, investments and maintenance of workshops, IT projects, parts supply and marketing. You will have a unique opportunity to experience Scania's purchasing organisation from a central perspective as well from a BU perspective. You will also gain a wider experience of the full procurement process from demand to payment for our service organisation.
Purchasing in our BU's is developing quickly and you will be a central part in this development. The spend in the region is close to 400 MEUR. You need to work closely with our internal customers at the BU's to understand their need and develop our processes to be efficient and effective. You will functionally lead a team of 20 people and some of your tasks include:
• Identify common activities and promote cooperation between our BU's
• Spread purchasing best practice from a central perspective as well as between BU's to increase savings and improve the service level to our internal customers
• Be the first point of contact between central purchasing and BU's
• Drive and promote process development and change management within Purchasing Commercial Operations
• Be a spokesperson for BU purchasing within the central functions
• Ensure that an annual Purchasing & Procurement Market plan is created and approved for each BU
• Train and educate purchasers in Scania's way of working
Your profile
We are looking for a person that has a strong commercial interest and enjoys to work in a developing organisation. You need to have good communicative skills, since a lot of the discussions are done over long distances, both physically and culturally. You have to be creative and open for new and sometimes unorthodox solutions and not duck for challenges.
You will lead a change process and implementation of new methods and principles, your leadership skills and your ability to create confidence and trust among our internal customers are vital. You should have at least a few years' experience of purchasing work or similar experience. You are fluent in English and additional languages will be an advantage and you should have a Master degree in a technical subject or business economics.
Since the job includes visits to our BU's you must be prepared to travel. Placement is Södertälje.
