Surface Chemistry, a business unit of AkzoNobel, operates in 50 countries, employing over 1500 people. Based in Chicago, IL, United States, with regional marketing centers in Bridgewater, NJ, United States, Singapore and
Stenungsund, Sweden, we are leading supplier of specialty surfactants and synthetic and bio-polymers additives. Using a combination of Chemical expertise, process technology and application know-how, we solve problems for a multitude of manufacturers and formulators. We service a wide range of industries including agro, asphalt, cleaning, fabric care, mining, personal care and petroleum.
Responsibilities
We have an immediate opening for an individual who can fulfil the position Purchaser chemicals and laboratory supplies within Local Purchasing, Surface Chemistry Plant Stenungsund. This is a temporary position on a full time basis until December 31st 2013, reporting to Group Head Planning and Local Purchasing, Surface Chemistry Plant Stenungsund.
The position supports the differnt parts of the AkzoNobel site in Stenungsund, such as production and RD&I, in purchasing of laboratory chemicals, laboratory supplies, subsidiary chemicals and raw material for Pilot Plant.
The main tasks and responsibilities are:
• Purchasing of chemicals and supplies in a cost effective way and within the stated quality level
• Offer negotiations with suppliers within NPR routines and rules
• Perform market investigations, which involves actively look for new suppliers and equipment within the stated
quality level
• Mapping of maintenance/service agreements for laboratory equipment to be able to establish a focal point for
lab equipment contracts with third parties
• Coordinate purchasing activities and article list with Lab storrage within Laboratory chemicals and laboratory
supplies
• Replace local purchaser of raw material and packaging during vacation and other abcence
Requirements
We are looking for you who have a degree in Economics or Engineering with basic knowledge in business laws and economics. You have 2-3 years experience from Purchasing and knowledge of the chemical business. You also have knowledge in transport and logistics processes and legislation, supply processes and handling as well as purchasing related IT-tools. Experience from SAP it is an advantage. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are necessary and expected.
To be successful in this position you need to be selfgoing and structured. You have well developed negotiation
skills as well as excellent communication skills and ability to prioritize.
