MAX IV is a national large-scale research laboratory providing scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world with instruments for research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually. 200 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory.
This is a one-year position in the Beamline Office of MAX IV.
The Beamline Office supports the built-up of new research instruments and handles technical questions as well as (project-)administration.
The main focus of this position relates to setting up structures and for maintenance work on beamlines and relevant infrastructure systems.
You must therefore be an experienced Engineer with a university degree (Master of Science) in relevant field with several years of experience with maintenance / continuous improvement work of complex systems combined with experience of synchrotrons. You must also have a relevant knowledge of the infrastructure systems in question, these involves Water cooling, Liquid Nitrogen, Electricity and Machine Protection Systems.
In addition, you have a good general technical understanding. You are fully proficient in English, both written and spoken. You are comfortable with talking to people. You are good at and have documented experience in collecting and compiling information in a structured way, e.g. lists of equipment.
