MAX IV Laboratory has operated successfully for more than 30 years and runs the new MAX IV synchrotron facility in Lund. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually, from Sweden and the rest of the world. They will do research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. 200 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory.
MAX IV, inaugurated June 2016, is the largest and most ambitious Swedish investment in national research infrastructure and the brightest source of X-rays worldwide. MAX IV Laboratory is hosted by Lund University.
We are looking for you, who will stand in for one of our project engineers during parental leave from April 2017 to February 2018.
You will get an unique opportunity to gain experience in an international large-scale research facility.
You will work in the beamline project office that supports the built-up of new research instruments and handles technical questions as well as (project-)administration.
You have sufficient skills and knowledge to take care of one or several of the tasks of the absent engineer including coordination and planning of infrastructure installations, requirement analysis for technical maintenance, participation in machine safety assessments, classing plans, coordination of gas systems design and safety.
We do not expect you to be able to take over all of these tasks and will instead adapt your working duties to your skills and knowledge.
You should have a background in engineering with an university degree. You have a good general technical understanding. You are fully proficient in English, both written and spoken. You are comfortable with talking to people. You are good at collecting and compiling information in a structured way, e.g. lists of equipment.
