Our team - the Strategy and Programs team within ATR defines the strategies, plans the project portfolio and also leads the major crossfunctional TD and I&A projects in the area.
Examples of technology projects we've managed is the technology projects in the area of All around view, Truck platooning and the autonomous truck in the Boliden mine. Now we need to strengthen the team as the area is growing.
Area description
The Vehicle Automation and Active Safety (VAAS) program overall objective is to plan, develop, secure and transfer mature technologies and concepts according to Group Technology Plan and global product plans.
The Vehicle Autoamtion and Active Safety program area of responsibility is higher level of vehicle control & automation to support vehicle efficiency, comfort and safety, including:
• Automated vehicle functions on public roads
• Automated vehicles in confined areas
• Active safety systems development to assure lead in the area of active safety
• Systems to support and improve maneuverability of vehicle and vehicle combinations
Features and target areas: Productivity & Transport efficiency, Driver assistance & safety, Driver performance, Utilization, Quality, Safety, Handling and Agility.
The Vehicle Automation program is growing and has a high complexity due to the cross functional contents and need, large budget and a complex project portfolio with several public founding projects supporting the area.
As the Vehicle Automation area is seen as a possible gamechanger for the industry - the area has a high visibility and focus internally and externally during the years to come. This requires an interest and skills in communication at different levels and with a variety of stakeholders.
A PhD or a Master of degree Science in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical or equivalent engineering with experience equivalent to 10 or more years of automotive experience, including 5 or more years of Project and/or line management experience.
An interest in the area of Vehicle Automation and related technologies is seen favourable.
A broad vehicle technology background is desired, moreover good leadership, networking and communication skills is essential. As the area covers early research to product implementation a broad interest and experience from different phases of R&D is preferable.
Candidates will be reviewed according to the Project management career path assessment & requirements

Interest and knowledge in one or several of the below areas is seen as favorable:
• Complex embedded control systems - prefferable vehicle control systems
• Vehicle Electrical architectures
• Active safety and vehicle automation features
• Sensor technologies as Radars, cameras with image processing, lidars, ultrasonic sensors, digital maps
• Sensor fusion
• Vehicle technology and commercial vehicles.
Favorable experience:
• Lead of complex development projects in large organizations
• Lead of Public founding research projects
• Research or technical work in the area
• Agile work methodologies
