About the position
IVL is experiencing an increasing demand from cities and companies to gain support on plans for efficient energy transition. Based on a number of research projects we have developed a toolbox of energy systems tools that are applied to provide techno-economic and sustainable planning for district energy implementation (heating and cooling). With unique, in-house expertise we are able to provide decisionmakers with support leading up to efficient procurement and, when relevant, to matchmaking with green investors interested in green energy investments.
This field of activity was launched in February 2022 under the brand name TEN21 (find more information here

http://www.ten21.eu)). The main idea is to facilitate energy transition for cities and other organizations, attending to their goals for 2030. We are now looking for a person with the ability to support the persons leading the development of TEN21.
TEN21 has initially targeted European actors but is getting interest also outside of Europe. We are looking for a person that is able to build new businesses on the international level. You need to be self-driven and able to act in a fastpaced environment.
You must be prepared to have varying tasks: ranging from acting as back office to the leading staff in IVL to be ready to present TEN21, host meetings and support the preparation of cases. Since much of the business planning is built upon energy systems results it is important that you can understand model outputs and support the senior TEN21 co-workers in their consulting of clients. It is a plus if you can show that you have been engaged in techno-economic energy system modelling (TIMES) before and have skills in Phyton.
Examples of work assignments that you will have
• Day to day project management
• Support senior staff in IVL working to implement TEN21
• Work pro-actively with business development and sales of projects to further develop TEN21
• Project lead smaller as well as larger projects in an international setting
• Contribute with your expertise and experience within the areas of energy system development
• Establish and manage an efficient communication strategy about TEN21
The international group at IVL
The international group aims to deliver research and assignments in developing countries. The last couple of years the group has conducted several projects within the areas of sustainability in as well as African and South American countries. In addition, the group is a part of Team Sweden, through projects working with export promotion of cleantech solutions as well as competence projects for the international audience.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, we expect:
• Relevant education; Master's degree or higher is assumed
• At least 5 years' experience with energy systems modelling, a plus if you know TIMES and Phyton
• Documented ability to work in international projects, a plus if you have experience from working in EU projects
• Experience from the district heating sector: either as a practitioner or a researcher
• Excellent communication skills
• Fluent in English both verbally and written. Swedish and/or additional languages are appreciated

About IVL
IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute conducts research and consulting in the entire area of environment and sustainability. This recruitment is a part of the international expansion of IVL. Preferably you are located in Göteborg since this is the hub for building the TEN21 activity. The position is a permanent position with a 6 month trial period.
