These activities are carried out in the form of projects which are a mix between longer-term fundamental research programs and shorter industrial research contracts. YKI has an ambitious research program and sees the need to further strengthen its expertise in these strategic research areas during 2008.
As a project manager at YKI your role will be to initiate, market and manage research projects in close cooperation with industry as well as universities and other research institutes. Another key activity is to develop the knowledge base within your own research area at YKI and promote applications to industry.
Project Manager Paper Coatings
As project manager you will be responsible for research projects primarily in the area of paper coatings and working in collaboration with the forest products industry. Your responsibilities will be to initiate and manage projects within this developing research area in which the surface chemistry challenges lie in surface modification for renewable barrier materials and development of innovative paper coatings such as superhydrophobic treatment.
We require a PhD trained in the areas of surface or materials chemistry. Experience of working in the paper coating industry is considered a bonus.

As a project manager at YKI personal skills are important for developing and maintaining relationships with customers and other partners. Furthermore, you should be business oriented, structured and an innovative team player. Successful candidates will receive appropriate training in project management.
