The program is called SMC Nautilus and is based on LEAN principles. We are now recruiting an additional resource, a Project Manager, to our team, who will support the local sites as well as developing the program. The location can be discussed but Northern Europe is preferred.
Key performance areas
As Project Manager you will act as the driving force behind an SMC-wide process improvement initiative known as SMC Nautilus. This will include the following main activities:
• Developing the SMC Nautilus program and approach
• Introducing the Lean concepts and tools, for example 5S, Visual Management, value stream mapping, cell design, line balancing, etc. to all levels of the SMC organization
• Developing processes and concepts aimed at continuous improvement
• Facilitating and coaching the site organization in the "learning by doing" approach
• Planning and running change initiatives within the site
• Running workshops together with local support team to develop a continuous improvement culture
• Liaising with other site lean organizations to communicate progress and create networking
• Project managing a wide range of measurable short, medium and long term lean initiatives
Since the change program will be implemented at different sites at various geographical locations, frequent travelling will be required.
Your profile
You have at least a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., materials, manufacturing, production etc.), and work related experience within a LEAN production environment. Working experience in Continuous Improvement/LEAN toolbox, including Value Stream Mapping, problem solving and cell manufacture/line balancing, etc. is a requirement, as is experience in project management and hands-on coaching experience from shop floor teams to senior management. Good working knowledge of 6 Sigma is advantageous. You are committed to delivering and meeting deadlines.
As a person you have good problem solving capabilities, a strong analytical mind and the ability to handle complex issues. You like to develop new things, are a strong change manager and have a hands-on attitude with "just do it" principles when appropriate. Furthermore, you have good coaching skills, are a team player and have the ability to motivate and encourage people to think in new ways and find solutions. You are self-motivated and able to communicate within a LEAN team structure. Good communication skills are essential, both written and verbal, as is the ability to engage, influence and motivate stakeholders at all levels. You have a desire to develop professionally and obtain the required results through teamwork.
