The department Combustion Systems, within Powertrain Engineering, has the mission to ensure that the development of the next generation engines will reflect our brand essence of 'Customer Success'. The department is responsible for developing Combustion Systems and Exhaust After Treatment Systems (EATS). We shall ensure that all legal (emissions and OBD) and customer attributes (power, fuel consumption & drivability) is met.
Our group has two main tasks:
• The task to define the best Combustion Specification (e.g. piston bowl, compression ratio, fuel injection system configuration) to get the optimized features for the different concepts that shall be evaluated and chosen at the concept gate in the projects. The work is performed in the pre-development phase, together with the team and colleagues from other departments. We are also responsible for method development to design high efficient combustion engines.
• The task to coordinate the deliveries from Combustion Technologies to the projects and represents the combustion technologies into the project and brings the projects information and prerequisites back to the line organization.
The knowledge build up is done in close cooperation with a network consisting of our team, the combustion team, colleagues within the powertrain development (departments and centers in Sweden, France, USA, Brazil and Japan) and external contacts such as suppliers and consultancy companies
Main Tasks
• Being the Combustion Technologies Line represent in the project and the projects represent in the Combustion Technologies Line organization
• Coordinate Combustion Technologies activities in the engine projects
• Work closely with Global System Responsible and Performance&Calibration leader to define technical solutions to meet the product requirements
• Secure the QDCF delivery from the Combustion Technologies into the start cost project
• Establish the level 3 plan together with the PL Feature and the cost estimate from Combustion Technologies
• Report the project status (combustion part) to the project and line organisation
• Set up gate recommendations from Combustion Technologies

Qualifications
• Master of Science or similar technical education
• Experience of engine/combustion development work
• Project or team leader experience
• Fluent in English (both spoken and written)
