Project Leader - Interior Lighting

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As PROJECT LEADER - INTERIOR LIGHTING within the group Hard Trim and Interior Lighting you are responsible for all deliverables connected to implementing interior lighting system solutions into our new car models. You will also grow to take part of and influence future strategies for interior lighting in our vehicles. We are looking for a result oriented project leader to run a new development project connected to interior lighting. You will work in a global environment, leading an international cross functional team with many global contacts. If you come and work with us, you will have great possibilities to develop your strengths within areas as plastic materials, automotive development, LED technology and light simulation.

Hard Trim and Interior Lighting lead many automotive projects at the same time. The group develops new system solutions to be implemented in our new car programs as well as yearly updates for current models. Our team is around twenty engaged multicultural persons both designers and project leaders. We have many interfaces towards groups working with other areas throughout our vehicles.

Job profile:

• Manage a cross functional team in engineering projects and ensure delivery with regards to time, technology and cost
• Develop, monitor and update relevant time plans for your project
• Anchor project decisions, development, status and prognosis in the line and project organisation
• Initiate and assure plan of action, in the project- and line organisation, when deviations occur to technology and cost frames
• Manage creation of system/component solutions
• Ensure FMEA and quality tracking of your project
• Perform design reviews
• Answer for the interior lighting system solution validation and ensure production launch
• Manage vendor contacts in regards to planning and monitoring
• Ensure commonality between projects
• Take part of and influence future strategies for interior lighting in our vehicles

Your profile:

• University degree in Mechanical, Electronics or Lighting Design engineering
• Strong project management skills, ability to drive tasks towards goals and deliver on time
• Good leadership skills
• Organised, structured and able to handle many tasks simultaneously and to take decisions
• Eager to work in a group and to cooperate with other people
• Self starter and highly motivated to take up challenging tasks
• Customer oriented
• Strong communication skills and fluent in written and spoken English
• Experience/understanding of design work in Catia and other systems that manage drawings and 3-D models is meritorious
• Work experience within light engineering/design is meritorious
• Experience from automotive as well as electrical business area is meritorious
