You will be part of an exciting new initiative. ABB and SNC-Lavalin have signed an agreement to form a joint venture (JV) for the execution of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects for electrical substations. By combining ABB's world-leading technology and its market leadership position in power transmission and distribution with SNC-Lavalin's strengths and in delivering infrastructure projects, the joint venture will help meet the evolving need of power grids across the globe for safe, reliable and state-of-the-art electrical substations.

Substations are key elements in power grid infrastructure that facilitate the efficient transmission and distribution of electricity. They control and protect power flows, connect power stations to the grid and link transmission and distribution networks as well as end consumers. ABB is a world leader in air-insulated, gas-insulated and hybrid electrical substations with voltage levels up to 1,200 kV. These substations facilitate the efficient and reliable transmission and distribution of electricity with minimum environmental impact. They serve utility, industry and commercial customers as well as sectors including railways, urban transportation and renewables.

We are looking for a highly motivated Project Lead Engineer for EPC High Voltage Substations, mainly in the Scandinavian markets, with the possibility to work in other markets as well. In this position, will be a member of the EPC Engineering Team and you will contribute towards the effective operation of the substations. You will work in a skilled team on a wide range of international Transmission & Distribution (T&D) substation projects, classified as high engineering complexity. In this role, you will focus on the management of engineering interfaces and scope of work involved in high voltage substation design and construction projects. You will also serve as technical lead for the complete substation scope, from the tender phase throughout sales handover, until the award of the Factory Acceptance Certificate (FAC) for turnkey projects, or engineered packages according to the project-related division of work. The job location is Vasteras, Sweden.

Tasks:

The Project Lead Engineer will:
• Ensure activities related to all engineering disciplines and teams within the project are effectively and cost-efficient executed, in accordance with the contract specification, quality standards and safety requirements.
• Plan and coordinate engineering activities and resources across the assigned projects.
• Act as a design authority for engineering deliverables in all applicable engineering disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with ABB and client engineering guidelines, standards and quality across the complete engineering process.
• Ensure close cooperation with engineering teams located at our operation center in India and Slovakia.
• Coordinate directly with clients, engineer, sub-contractors and suppliers technical issues and technical interfaces
• Attend site during construction phase and be the focal point for all site related technical queries and/or instructions. Coordinate and cooperate with the site- and commissioning manager. Clarify potential issues or provide solutions to correct identified problems.
• Always put safety first - understand and follow Operational Health & Safety procedures and guidelines.

Requirements:

We are looking for you who have the following foundation:
• A degree in Electrical or Power Engineering.
• Approximately 7-10 years' experience in substation design with focus on system design integration
• Proven experience in the Scandinavian market with knowledge of local standards and customer requirements, especially Norway and Sweden.
• Ability to organize work, manage priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
• Good customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
• You should also be capable to work with project planning software, such as MS project or PRIMAVERA.
• In this role, it is required that you are fluent in English as well as either Swedish or Norwegian.
• You should also be willing to travel for work up to 20%.

It would be considered additional value if you have at least basic knowledge of CAD/CAE applications and tools and/or have an understanding of electronic records management systems.
