hela Sverige The Target Division at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Project Engineer position in the Monolith & Handling Group.
Description of division
The Target Division is part of the Machine Directorate with the responsibility to design, develop, procure, install, commission and test the systems needed to convert the energetic proton beam coming from the accelerator to neutron beams that are utilized for experiments. The first step in this process is production of high-energy neutrons through a spallation process involving proton beam interaction with a tungsten target. The fast, high-energy neutrons released in the spallation process are slowed down to suitable energies for experiments in the Moderator and Reflector Systems, and then delivered to the instruments through beam ports. Key features of the target station are the target itself, the neutron moderator and reflector system, the neutron beam extraction system and the equipment used for maintaining these systems.
The Work Package "Moderator and Reflector Systems" is part of the Monolith & Handling Group within the Target Division. The main deliverables of the Work Package are systems maximizing the generated neutron flux, usable for the scientific instruments.
The project engineer filling the position will join the work-package team to support and assist them during an intense period of manufacturing and testing phase.
