The candidate should be motivated to be part of and contribute to the development of a dynamic peace research institute.SIPRI is an independent international institute whose core mission is to undertake research and activities on security, conflict and peace. Established in 1966, SIPRI provides data, analysis and recommendations, based on open sources, to policymakers, researchers, media and the interested public. SIPRI provides excellent opportunities for personal development. ResponsibilitiesThe main responsibilities of the Project Controller are:Managing the financial and administrative aspects of on-going projects;Preparing reports to donors and assuring that financial and narrative reports are submitted on time and in the correct format; Leading project audits as well as contributing to financial audits of SIPRI; Checking travel claims and all other project-related external costs.The Project Controller will work within SIPRI's Financial Department and will report to the Financial Manager. The Project Controller will also work closely with SIPRI researchers, the Grants Manager and the Communications and Editorial Department.RequirementsThe successful candidate will have the following experience and skills:A university degree in disciplines and topics relevant to this post (e.g. accounting, finance, business, administration) and/or 2-3 years of experience working in finance, in a position such as a Project Controller, Business Controller or Accountant (preferably in an international environment);Fluency, both spoken and written, in Swedish and English;Pays close attention to detail;The ability to work independently and as part of a team;Sound competency working with Microsoft Excel. Contract period The position will start from 1 September 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment will be permanent with a probation period of 6 months.
