Recent awareness on the impact of the fossil-based plastics and their littering on the environment and their hazard potential in the living organisms, including the humankind, is leading to questioning about the use of traditional plastics in relation to their expected life spun. This offers an opportunity for increased use of biobased materials. Therefore, the use of natural lignocellulosic materials is expected to increase significantly as a renewable resource for sustainable materials. A current drive for thermoplastics is to maximize the use of renewable content in mass production systems. However, the full potential of lignocelluloses as thermoplastic materials cannot be reached without the development of dedicated processing strategies and novel approaches.

• Production and in the interaction between these areas.

This position will be based at the Division of Engineering Materials who conducts research and education in the areas of relationship between technological materials microstructural structure and their mechanical properties. The dominant areas of research are the deformation and fracture behavior, and fatigue properties at various processing methods of metals as well as polymeric materials and composites.

Job description
As a project assistant you will spend most of your days in our laboratory, conducting experiments and collecting data. You'll work with experimental melt processing, structural and physical characterisation and identification of the relationship between the structure the processing and the properties of the materials. You'll be contributing to a research project and monthly you'll be reporting and presenting your work. You will also have the opportunity to participate in internal and external meetings.

Contract terms
Temporary employment until 2023-11-15
