Defenders' Days - Empowering Human Rights Defenders at Risk is a biennual conference, organised by Civil Rights Defenders, with and for human rights defenders and their closest allies. To the conference, Civil Rights Defenders welcomes human rights defenders from all over the world, as well as leading experts, innovators and stakeholders, to Stockholm to engage in trainings, networking opportuntities, workshops and several other activities. In 2016, we welcomed more than 160 human rights defenders from 35 countries to Defenders' Days.

During the conference, Civil Rights Defenders highlights the work of courageous human rights defenders, many of whom active in some of the world's most repressive countries. Together, we seek inspirational and forward-looking solutions to the most pressing issues that human rights defenders face, and build new alliances across the world. Towards the end of the conference, during an award ceremony, one courageous human rights defender is awarded the annual Civil Rights Defender of the Year Award.
