Project assistant in Computer-Aided Molecular Design
The Department of Chemistry is looking for a project assistant for molecular modelling and data analysis using chemometrics in drug design related projects (duration of 9 month). The project assistant will be part of the modelling group of Anna Linusson.
The research activities at the Department of Chemistry have a strong focus on Biological Chemistry. One of the major directions is focusing on understanding the underlying mechanisms of diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and bacteria infection. This is achieved by applying computational tools like molecular modelling and chemometrics in combination with experimental efforts using small synthesized bioorganic molecules. These compounds are examined in biological model systems using immunological, microbiological and pharmacological approaches.
The current recruitment is intended to support the efforts on the computer-based investigation of ligands binding to proteins. The person will work on a new method development for investigating binding pockets of proteins both regarding principal properties and in relation to dockings.
We are looking for a candidate with a master degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or equivalent. The candidate must be well-acquainted with molecular modelling and docking in particular. In addition, knowledge in chemometric tools like PCA and PLS is required. An understanding and working knowledge of packages such as GOLD, Simca, MOE, OpenEye and Schrödinger is preferred. Good communication skills in written and spoken English are also required.
