We are in an expansion phase, which has opened up many interesting job opportunities. Are you passionate about human rights and want to be part of a global movement of human rights defenders? Do you want to work in an international environment with colleagues all over the world? Then you might be the one we are looking for.

After over 40 years of defending people's civil and political rights together with human rights defenders in over 50 countries, we know that we can never take human rights and democracy for granted. With our project Backa Demokratin, we are now increasing our effort in Sweden.

The project aims to mobilising broad support for Sweden's democracy, and specifically the defence of the rights and freedoms upon which it rests, working towards civil society, rights holders and the general public .

About the role
As Programme Officer you will be contributing with a variety of tasks to the "Backa Demokratin" project. You will be responsible for coordinating trainings and deliverables in accordance with the project plan and ensure that all deliverables reflects the needs of the target group.

The Programme Officer reports to the Head of Defenders Days.

The role offers great variety, including work tasks such as:

• Identifying capacity related needs among civil society within Sweden.

• Implementing and developing methodologies for relevant capacity strengthening efforts among the civil society in Sweden.

• Coordinate informal network gatherings, joint efforts and trainings.

• Evaluate the related project activities and identify additional needs.

• Working closely with colleagues in the Backa Demokratin Project and the Defenders' Days Unit, ensuring successful deliveries in accordance with the decided project plan;

• Contribute to departmental processes within the Security and Innovation Department.

• Managing administrative documentation related to partners, consultants, etc.

About you
As a person you like to plan, organise, and prioritize your work in an efficient way to keep time frames and deliver results according to organisational goals and quality standards. You show interest, willingness, and ability to help others and strive to deliver solutions. You are open-minded and like to take initiative and generate activity.

It is fundamental for you to resist undue pressure in decision-making and to communicate key points and ideas with clarity.

If you also tend to remain motivated and effective despite setbacks and have the interest and ability to collaborate with and relate to other people in a responsive and smooth way, we are sure that you will thrive in this role.

We assume that you share our values.

To be suitable for this role you have:

• Full fluency in Swedish is required for this position as the target groups are all within the Swedish civil society, and most work will be conducted in Swedish;

• Bachelor's degree in human rights, public administration, marketing or relevant experience of related work in the NGO sector;

• At least 3 years of relevant working experience;

• Experience of, and proven excellent delivery on, administrative tasks;

• Experience from working in the Microsoft Office 365 environment.

• Proficiency (orally and written) in English (level C1).

It is a merit if you have experience from coordinating capacity strengthening efforts within civil society and/or strong connections within civil society across Sweden.
