Background
Civil Rights Defenders is an international human rights organisation based in Sweden that defends people's civil and political rights, and to empower human rights defenders at risk. In Eurasia, the organisation closely co-operates with a number of human rights organisations. We also advocate for improvements in the realm of human rights in Eurasia, both with regard to the general public and decision-makers. In addition to long-term support, we organise a variety of events, participate in coalitions with local partners, and conduct other joint advocacy and lobbying actions. Providing capacity building support and other kinds of assistance to human rights defenders is also part of our activities, in addition to publishing reports on human rights in individual countries of the region.
Area of Responsibility
The Programme Assistant (PA) for Eurasia is responsible for supporting the Programme Director (PD) and Programme Officers (POs) for Eurasia in planning and following up on our programme and long- term partnerships with human rights organisations in the region, in keeping with the Civil Rights Defenders Eurasia Strategy 2017-2019, the yearly Plans of Action (PoA) and the budget. The PA works in close cooperation with the PD, supporting the PD in development of the department, including fundraising. The PA also supports the POs with implementing the PME-system and works closely with the financial department.
To be qualified for this position you need to have/be:
• Bachelor of Science - International Relations
• Fluent in English and Russian. Georgian - intermediate level
• Relevant experience from working with administration and tasks similar to this position
• Good communication and social skills
