The Base Software product stream is responsible all the way from research and advanced engineering to implementation, verification and validation of current and future Electrical System.Base Software consist of over 900 ambitious and skilled engineers and is responsible for:
- Enabling Base Technologies
- Power and Energy
- Electrical Infrastructure
- Core System Platform
- Comfort Functions
- Body Functions
For each of these areas we have started an Agile Release Train (ART).
Do you want to work in a challenging but exciting position of Volvo Cars? We are now looking for a Product Manager for the Body Functions ART. You will be responsible for; the product contribution from your program - the Agile Release Train (ART) - working to maximize the value added work by owning and deciding upon priorities in the program backlog from a technical and business perspective as well as developing the program Vision and Roadmap. You will work in close cooperation with the Release Train Engineer for the ART and the System Architect. You will be reporting to the Section manager, with a dotted line to the department manager.
The Body Functions ART has responsibilities that stretches from early phases until launch of new cars, and it involves development of customer functionality, system design, verification, hardware design and software development. The technical responsibility covers system solutions in various areas, among them Vehicle access, Locking, Alarm and Exterior Light. The ART is also responsible for developing a number of different electronic control units, some of them with in-house developed SW.
What you will do:
- Be a member of the ART Management Team, alongside the Release Train Engineer (RTE)
and the System Architects
- Be responsible for the ART backlog prioritization and hence, lead the technical work within the ART
- Lead the product owners within the ART and secure clear backlog-driven development
- Collaborate and set expectations with product owners, stakeholders, customers and architects
- Balance the backlog from multiple directions: stakeholders, managers, LPM and product owners
- Prioritize features and negotiate enablers in the program backlog
- Set vision and roadmap for the ART
- Actively participate in the management team for the Product stream Base Software
What do you need to have?
To be successful in this job, we see that you have at least 5 years of relevant work experience. What is relevant? It could be that you have worked as a project leader, product owner, manager or similar within the responsibility of the ART or in another software or electrical engineering area. You have SW or electrical engineering development experience, and preferably in an agile environment. A university degree can always be a good thing - especially for this position within computer science or electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
To be able to prioritize, taking in new features and enablers, you also need to understand the technical area, to be able to judge the amount of work.
Your job is to motivate and keep a large group of skilled people working towards a common goal in the ART. To be able to do that we see that you have managerial experience from before, this is not a first-time job as a leader - you need to have hands-on practice.
