Subject: Neurobiology, specializing in anatomy
Description of the subject area: Neurobiology is a broad research and knowledge area that aims to increase the understanding of the nervous system in health and disease. The subject anatomy concerns studies of the human body and tissue composition and structure, and also comparative anatomy and embryology.
Duties: This appointment as Professor involves research, teaching, and administrative duties. It is also the responsibility of the holder of the appointment to follow development within one's own research area as well as societal development that are of relevance to the research and teaching. The holder of the appointment as Professor shall mainly conduct research but also participate in teaching on the undergraduate, advanced and research levels at Linköping University. The pedagogic approach of the Faculty of Health Sciences stresses learner-driven education.
The position includes teaching responsibility for the subject anatomy and to create appropriate working methods that is in line with the MD program and also in developing the MD program?s future development and educational visions. It is an advantage if the applicant has experience of student-active educational work such as problem-based learning. The successful applicant will have extensive experience in teaching anatomy. Tasks involving significant collaboration with several professional groups and different subject groups / networks of training stages so good interpersonal skills are required.
Qualifications: In order to be qualified for the appointment as Professor in research areas the applicant is required to prove both scientific and pedagogical skills.
Grounds for assessment: The extent of proficiency that is required for the appointment as Professor make up the grounds for the assessment of the applicants.
The assessment of pedagogical skills shall be given the same attention as the assessment of scientific skills.
