Scientific focus of the position:
The University has established strong research activities in vehicular communication, especially in wireless reliable real-time communication between vehicles, and this is now one of the areas where continued development of research strength is expected in order to maintain excellence in international and national collaborations (such as European projects and national arenas) as well as in industrial collaborations. The area, which is expected to attract considerable industrial interest also in the future, is an important research area for Halmstad University.

The appointed professor is expected to develop a high-quality funded research program together with colleagues and must be committed to excellence in teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

Candidates must write a research program proposal, including ideas about possible cooperation within our larger research environment focusing on vehicular communication research and relate to the overall research environment Embedded and Intelligent Systems (EIS). Principal duties:
The major part of the employment is intended for research, post-doc mentoring and doctoral education, but teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students are also important parts of the employment.

Qualification:
"In order to be considered qualified as a professor within academic areas outside of the performing and visual artistic domain it is necessary for the applicant to demonstrate a record of both scholarly and teaching achievement. The same weight will be given to the assessment of teaching merits as with the assessment of scholarly achievement" (The Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4, § 3).

Candidates must have a distinguished record of original research work in data communication, especially within vehicular communication, and proven teaching and leadership abilities. The main emphasis in the assessment of the applicant is on scientific skills and productivity. A strong emphasis will also be placed upon pedagogical skills as well as skills to attract research funding and ability to co-operate with industry. In addition, administrative skills as well as skills in developing and leading projects and personnel will be judged as being of high value. Proven ability to cooperate internally and also with the wider community, including international collaboration, is also important.

The application should consist of one electronic or four physical complete parcels each of which contains the following information:

1. A statement covering the applicant's scholarly and teaching merits together with other areas of experience. This statement shall include information about the applicant's scientific skill, teaching skill, leadership and administrative skill as well as work done in co-operation with the society and the industry.
2. A statement of intent with a suggested research program and which goals and visions the applicant wishes to achieve if successful.
3. An attested curriculum vitae with statement of references, clearly documented and attested with enclosed certificates.
4. A comprehensive list of scholarly publications.
5. A maximum of ten publications.
