The university now continues its strategic development in Business and IT by strengthening the senior research competence within computer science.
We invite applications for a Professor in Computer Science, employed at the Department of Information Technology, who wants to further develop research and education in the interdisciplinary area of data analysis and digital commerce. We seek an experienced and driven research leader who wants to pursue and develop interdisciplinary research and strategic research development, including strengthening the postgraduate study environment. The successful candidate will lead an active and successful computer science research group, focusing on data analysis and high performance computing. The research environment in computer science at the University of Borås is characterized by a high percentage of externally funded projects and close cooperation with surrounding industry, mainly through a well-established business network in SIIR. Research is conducted within projects in computer science with specialization in data analysis and machine learning, with a particular focus on applications in digital commerce.
Job description
This position is located at the Department of Information Technology, within the Faculty of Librarianship, Information, Education and IT. During the first two years of employment, work duties are mainly dedicated to SIIR, as an externally funded (The Knowledge Foundation and E-handelsstaden Borås) strategic recruitment with an emphasis on data analysis and digital commerce. During this period, the emphasis will be on the further development of existing multidisciplinary research in the area of Business and IT, in close collaboration with industrial partners in E-handelsstaden Borås. The development of doctoral studies is a key part of the university's commitment to Business and IT, with the aim of gaining postgraduate educational rights in the area. Two fully funded doctoral positions, one in informatics and the other in business administration, both with dissertation projects within data analysis and digital commerce, will be tied to the current position as professor.
After conclusion of the externally funded project, i.e. from 2019-09-01, the position will be completely dedicated to the Department of Information Technology, and the successful candidate will be acting as the scientific leader of the department's computer science education and research. As research leader, the professor will be expected to be a driving force in further development of the research environment in the field, by initiating and leading work with applications for external funding and actively work with financing, recruitment and supervision of postgraduate students, as well as planning and undertaking research and scientific production. During the subsequent three years at the Department of Information Technology, research and research management is guaranteed to constitute at least 50% of work duties. Establishment of contacts and cooperation with external partners, both academic and industrial, is an integral part of the job description. Teaching will mainly be in intelligent systems and software development based on computer science principles, especially programming in different languages ??and environments. Other tasks include development and planning of education, mainly at graduate and postgraduate levels, and academic administration.
