The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology at the Sahlgrenska Academy conducts extensive research and education covering a wide range of knowledge areas. The Institute consists of five departments: Clinical Neuroscience, Health and Rehabilitation, Pharmacology, Physiology as well as Psychiatry and Neurochemistry. The Unit of Physiotherapy is a part of the Department of Health and Rehabilitation which provides education at bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree levels in the subjects of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Audiology. The Unit of Physiotherapy has a creative research environment with a vision to develop further, and currently has 15 registered PhD-students. With this call, we wish to further strengthen our strong scientific and pedagogical environment within the subject of Physiotherapy.

Subject area description
Physiotherapy comprises the knowledge of and studies of humans in motion and how movement, awareness of the body and movement, habits and life patterns affect human health.
Duties
The holder of the position is expected to take an active leading role of the research group in physiotherapy/ sports medicine to promote a creative research environment for senior researchers and PhD students as well as advise and support researching colleagues in writing grant applications. The holder of the position is expected to apply for and obtain grants in national competition. The tasks include to follow and drive the development of physiotherapy with a focus on sports medicine, as well as to develop collaboration nationally and internationally.

The employment includes teaching and supervision at bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree levels as well as supervision of postdoctoral fellows. Teaching also involves course responsibility, course planning, examinations, and development work. The pedagogical duties may change and increase over time. The applicant's clinical competence will be applied in teaching situations focused on clinical treatment in the subject.

The employment also includes administrative tasks such as academic leadership with administrative tasks, and assignments within the Department or the Institute may also be included.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for employing teaching staff are set out in the Higher Education Ordinance and in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
To be eligible for an appointment as professor, the applicant must possess both scientific and pedagogical skills. For this position, the applicant has to be a registered physiotherapist, with documented clinical experience as physiotherapist in the field of sports medicine.
Assessment criteria
The assessment criteria for employing teaching staff are set out in the Higher Education Ordinance and in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
When assessing the applications, first scientific skills of importance for the subject will be considered and secondly pedagogic skills of importance for the subject. Thirdly, clinical skills and administrative skills will be taken into account.

When assessing the scientific skill, special emphasis will be given to the ability to lead and conduct research at a high international and national level, the quality and originality of the research, the applicant's ability to plan and lead research and postgraduate training, as well as the applicant's competitiveness within the research front nationally. The scientific skill is also assessed based on quality and originality in the form of peer-reviewed publications in international journals.

When assessing pedagogic skills, special emphasis will be given to pedagogical skills at bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree levels within the subject field. The skill must be well documented in a way that makes it possible to assess the quality of the educational activities.

When assessing the clinical skills, particular importance will be attached to documented clinical and patient-related work as a physiotherapist/physiotherapist in the field of sports medicine. Clinical competence that can be applied in teaching situations focused on clinical treatment in the subject is particularly meritorious.
Employment
Permanent employment, full-time 100 %. The position and is located at Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. First day of employment as agreed.
