At the School of Education, Culture and Communication our students are studying to be for example preschool teachers, teachers, special needs teachers, communications officers, language consultants, mathematicians and chamber musicians. Here we have the research specialisations of Educational Sciences and Mathematics. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with preschools, schools, banks and companies, municipalities and public authorities in the region.

• Teaching at undergraduate, advanced, and postgraduate level. This may involve teaching at the university's two campus locations, Västerås and Eskilstuna, as well as distance teaching.
• Development of the bachelor's and master's programs in engineering mathematics and of the mathematics courses in the engineering programs at the university.
• Supervision and examination at undergraduate, advanced, and postgraduate level.
• Research and research management in the field of mathematics with a focus on engineering applications, which is part of the research environment MAM (mathematics/applied mathematics). For this position we can initially offer 30% research time.
• Work with applications for external research funding.
• Contribution to collaboration and co-production with the surrounding society.
• Management assignments such as program responsibility, subject responsibility, research group responsibility or research environment responsibility.

www.mdh.se.Academic skills will have been demonstrated by independent research work which to a significant degree exceeds the requirements for docent competence (see the University's Guidelines for assessment of docent competence).
Importance is also attached to the planning and leading of research. Academic skills may also have been demonstrated by the ability to achieve results in research through cooperation in joint projects of benefit to academia and to industry/the public sector/society in general and through the ability to disseminate research.
Teaching skills will have been demonstrated by teaching at first-cycle as well as third-cycle levels. The assessment of teaching skills shall apply to the planning, carrying out and evaluation of teaching as well as supervision and examination. Teaching skills shall be documented in such a way that their quality can also be assessed.

Assessment criteria

www.mdh.se.The assessment criteria shall be based on the degree of skills required for the appointment. In general terms these assessment criteria shall include the ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to fulfil the duties well.
Special emphasis is placed on experience of planning, leading, publishing and informing about research in mathematics/applied mathematics with a focus on engineering applications. The research must be internationally recognized. Experience of participating in, or being responsible for, quality assurance work of importance for research in mathematics/applied mathematics or related fields is crucial for the position.
Another basis for assessment is the quality of completed teaching at all levels in higher education, as well as experience of course development at undergraduate and advanced level.
Decisive importance is attached to personal suitability. We value the qualities that an even distribution of age and gender, as well as ethnic and cultural diversity, can contribute to the organisation.
Merit
• Experience of participation in national and international networks that are important for research in mathematics.
• Previous assignments within committees, councils and the like in connection with research as well as assignments such as referees, reviewers or other expert assignments.
• Experience of mathematics teaching to students whose main area of study is not mathematics.
• Good knowledge of Swedish.
