On 1st January 2010, Linnaeus University opened its doors for the first time as Sweden's newest university, the result of a merger between Kalmar University and Växjö University.Context of position
Linnaeus University was established on January 1, 2010, through the merger of Kalmar University and Växjö University. The university conducts teaching and research mainly at the main campuses in Kalmar and Växjö, but also at other locations in the region of Småland. The announced position, Professor in Informatics with specialization in Information Logistics, is located to campus Växjö and in the School of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics (DFM), which is one of Linnaeus University's twelve schools. DFM has solid and dynamic research milieus with extensive international exchange. Round 45 PhD students and 14 professors are active in DFM's research areas Computer and Information Sciences, Physics, and Mathematics. It is expected that the holder of the Professorship position here announced will build a research group specializing in Information Logistics and with focus on collaborative research within different research environments, both within and outside the University, and with the industry. The professor position is externally financed by PostNord AB.

The position
As a professor in the School of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics (DFM) it is expected that the holder of the professorship will lead and develop well-established research in Informatics with specialization in Information Logistics, and be involved in teaching and external activities. It is particularly important that the prospective candidate can substantially contribute to the creation of a national and international platform for research and development, which brings stability and continuity in the field of information logistics education and research at Linnaeus University.

Additionally important is that the focus of research with an informatics perspective is directed at business models that are based on information logistics phenomena, a recently identified area within information logistics.

Bases of assessment
The eligibility requirements are the general requirements that the Higher Education Ordinance stipulates for a professorship. To be eligible for the appointment as a professor, demonstrated excellence in teaching and research within the subject area is required. The applicant must show documented competence in the field of information logistics. Information Logistics in this context refers to the practices related to information flows and encompass the entire information value chain, i.e., information generation, transfer, storing, processing, including its use or consumption. Value creation concerns activities in a social context regardless of human or machine involvement.

The applicant must demonstrate a strong commitment to the development of theories and methods mainly related to business models that are based on information logistics phenomena.

Ability to teach and supervise in English is a necessity.

Other basis of assessment
Applicant's documented accomplishments in building up a research group are highly meritorious since the establishment and development of research, including research management and supervision are main tasks.

The applicant should be able to demonstrate good knowledge of business and/or public services, and its conditions, and the ability to communicate these skills in the interaction between teachers/researchers, students and business/public service.

Additional basis of assessment are: skills and ability to attract external funding; the applicant's establishment in international and national academic networks; and good communication and management skills. It is desirable that the applicant is able to teach and supervise in the Swedish language.

The applicant is expected to work in research and teaching environments where teamwork and flexibility are essential. Likewise, the applicant should show proficiency and interest in developing innovative teaching and educational activities.
