Position description
As a Professor in Energy engineering with a focus on Electric Power Engineering, you are expected to actively collaborate with other professors within the Future Energy FEC, as well as with other researchers at the university and in national and international research environments, and with the surrounding society to jointly develop knowledge to integrate different perspectives on society's transition work towards increased electrification and climate adaptation. You are expected to actively contribute to the development of research in future energy and to take a leading role in the further development of the educational programs in energy engineering with a focus on increasing the element of electric power engineering and electrification in connection with the energy transition

Qualification requirements
Academic skills should be demonstrated by independent research work which to a significant degree exceeds the requirements for docent competence (see the University's Guidelines for assessment of docent competence).

Importance is also attached to the planning and leading of research. Academic skills may also have been demonstrated by the ability to achieve results in research through cooperation in joint projects of benefit to academia and to industry/the public sector/society in general and through the ability to disseminate research.

Teaching skills will have been demonstrated by teaching at first-cycle as well as third-cycle levels. The assessment of teaching skills shall apply to the planning, carrying out and evaluation of teaching as well as supervision and examination. Teaching skills shall be documented in such a way that their quality can also be assessed.

The applicant should have completed ten weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. A person appointed as a Professor but lacking training in higher education teaching and learning will be offered in-house training within two and a half years. The course in higher education teaching and learning at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.

To be considered for the position, you should be able to demonstrate documented good ability to:

• obtain external research funds for your and others' research
• lead various types of research projects and in collaboration with others develop research projects
• collaborate with national and international research environments
• have contributed to research and/or educational initiatives in electric power engineering
• develop your research area in breadth and depth

You should also demonstrate current research activity in an area relevant to the position and show experience in leading research groups and/or projects.

Assessment criteria
The assessment criteria shall be based on the degree of skills required for the appointment. In general terms these assessment criteria shall include the ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to fulfil the duties well.

The same attention shall be paid to the assessment of teaching skills as to the assessment of academic skills.

As the position includes a mission to increase research activity in the subject of electric power engineering, it is advantageous if you have experience in:

• building up a research group
• collaborating and cooperating with others to create creative research opportunities
• disseminating knowledge in various forums and contributing to the development of society
• teaching in both Swedish and English.

In the assessment, weight is also given to the applicant's documented experience of management responsibility with regard to the subject content and tasks of the position.
