Information about the position
This position as Professor of Computer Science with focus on Cyber Physical Systems is related to our research and teaching in the areas of the next generation of intelligent production systems (Beyond Industry 4.0). It is of interest for you who work in some of the following areas: sensor systems, industrial communication, cloud, security and big data, and want to apply your knowledge in the exciting area of production. Further, you should be interested in applications that integrate our research to concepts and systems solutions. We are a team of leading researchers in embedded systems, AI and production who work with the application areas of automotive, robotics, health technology and manufacturing systems. We have leading competences today in for example embedded systems, security, cloud, sensor systems, communication, expert systems, vision systems, machine learning and production development. Today at IDT we have around 130 senior researchers and 100 doctoral students.

Your role is to take responsibility for the application area of cyber physical systems in production. This includes research on for example intelligent machines, smart products, vertical IT integration, machine learning, smart and connected machines and products, as well as multi-sensor interaction.

Major responsibilities
The position embraces research, research supervision, continued development of the research area, and teaching at first-, second and third-cycle levels. The position also includes participating in outreaching activities through publications in highly ranked journals but also through interaction with professionals. As a professor you will contribute to the development of the new research group. This includes taking on leadership and jointly developing the research group, and the ability to initiate and to manage problem-oriented and interdisciplinary research projects. Further, you are expected to contribute to the development of strategic ongoing and future initiatives, both at the University and to our strategic collaboration platforms.

This professorship is part of a unique and large initiative of the University, where the municipality and the companies in the region ensure that the Mälaren region will continue to be a leading production hub in Europe. The professorship will be fully funded, including funding for building up the research with both postdocs and doctoral students.

We also offer close collaboration with our partner companies and within the research group, and with a high degree of freedom to develop and advance the research activities in the area of the next generation of production research. We perform leading research in embedded systems and production development.

Qualification requirements
Academic skills will have been demonstrated by independent research work which to a significant degree exceeds the requirements for docent competence (see the University's Guidelines for assessment of docent competence).

Importance is also attached to the planning and leading of research. Academic skills may also have been demonstrated by the ability to achieve results in research through cooperation in joint projects of benefit to academia and to industry/the public sector/society in general and through the ability to disseminate research.

Teaching skills will have been demonstrated by teaching at first-cycle as well as third-cycle levels. The assessment of teaching skills shall apply to the planning, carrying out and evaluation of teaching as well as supervision and examination. Teaching skills shall be documented in such a way that their quality can also be assessed.

The applicant should have completed ten weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. A person appointed as a Professor but lacking training in higher education teaching and learning will be offered in-house training during the first year. The course in higher education teaching and learning at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.

Good communicative abilities in English are a requirement since international contacts and cooperation are of great interest, and since most of our advanced courses are given in English.
