hela Sverige The Institute of Biomedicine at the Sahlgrenska Academy consists of five departments with both preclinical and clinical orientation (www.biomedicine.gu.se). The Department of Infectious Diseases conducts research, education and diagnostics in microbiology and clinical infectious medicine. The virological research includes projects focusing on viral hepatitis, HIV and herpes viruses. The integrated course in infection, microbiology and immune systems for medical students has been an example of developing and introducing new educational teaching methods.
SUBJECT AREA DESCRIPTION:
Clinical virology includes virology and infection immunology focusing on the effects of viruses on human health and disease.
JOB ASSIGNMENTS:
The employee is expected to conduct active research at an internationally competitive level in clinical virology. The employment also includes teaching and supervision in undergraduate and postgraduate education, collaboration with the surrounding community and administrative assignments. The applicant should be an active and established researcher with extensive experience in clinical virological research. Applicants are expected to have documented high scientific proficiency and ability to obtain research grants in national and international competition.
ELIGIBILITY:
The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Demonstrated scientific and pedagogical skills. Qualification as a registered medical practitioner and specialist competence in Clinical Virology or Clincal Microbiology.
ASSESSMENT:
The first assessment basis is scientific skills. The second assessment basis is educational and clinical skills. Experience of administration, ability to interact with the community, and ability to cooperate will also be considered. The successful candidate may also be asked to complete an educational training program within the first year of employment.
