hela Sverige The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM) organizes undergraduate education, postgraduate education and research within Linköping University. In total, the department has approximately 440 employees and an annual turnover of EUR 47 million. The department has five scientific areas; Applied Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Materials Physics and Theory & Modelling.
The scientific area of Applied Physics has a long tradition of cross-disciplinary research. Current areas of focus include surface science, sensor science, bioelectronics, organic electronics, optics and nanoscience. The Applied Physics area presently has 11 full professors and one emeritus. Information about current research groups within the scientific area of Applied Physics is available at our website
www.ifm.liu.se/applphys/In an expansion of the Applied Physics area, Linköping University (LiU) seeks an innovative researcher for an endowed chair position. Candidates should have research interests within, and extending beyond, the broad area defined by the now existing research within the scientific area of Applied Physics at LiU, and bring new ideas and directions that may develop and strengthen the cross-disciplinary environment. Responsibilities include establishing and conducting a new vigorous program of high-risk / high-reward innovative research, supervising PhD students, undergraduate teaching, and university administration. Qualification requirements include a PhD or equivalent in physics, chemistry, biology or engineering. Candidates will be evaluated based on their experience from teaching, their performance during the previous 10 years regarding scientific publications, collaborations, citations, leadership and ability to attract external funding. They will also be evaluated from the quality of their proposed research plans, including the suitability of the plan in the context of research currently performed within the scientific research area Applied Physics.
Eligible candidates will have achieved at least the position of associated professor (or equivalent) or demonstrated equivalent research and/or scientific leadership at an institute or company. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are also required.
Duties
This appointment as Professor involves research, teaching, and administrative duties. It is also the responsibility of the holder of the appointment to follow the development within the own research area as well as the societal development that are of relevance to the research and teaching.
The holder of the appointment as Professor shall primarily conduct research, but is also expected to participate in teaching on the undergraduate, advanced and research levels at Linköping University.
Qualifications
In order to be qualified for the appointment as Professor the applicant is required to prove both scientific and pedagogical skills.
