The applicant should have a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field, with documented high quality research. The successful applicant must demonstrate willingness and ability to benefit from and contribute to JTH's environment. The applicant is expected to contribute in research, teaching, and the development of the Department. We seek particularly a personality with the ambition to establish a strong research group reflecting the individuals'own research ambitions whilst also advancing the objectives of the Department.
We require a person with good knowledge and understanding of software development and the close integration between industrial practice, processes, and technology. The position offered would require research and teaching expertise. In order to contribute to the future development of the department, applicants with a background in one or more of the following research areas encouraged to apply:
• Agile development methods
• Data mining and Decision support systems
• Integrated Development Environments (IDEs)
• Machine learning
• Mobility, connectivity and the Internet of things
• Model based software engineering
• Requirements engineering
• Software quality, testing and metrics
We especially emphasize that the person we are looking for acknowledges both the power of models in development cycles and the need, when addressing the user experience of information technology, to bring together theory and practice.
In education, Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering is in the process of establishing a 2-year Master program with a focus on software product engineering. The new Master program is planned to complement the existing Master program in Informatics and the BSc programs in Software Engineering and Mobile Platforms. The applicant will contribute to the design of the new Master programme. Teaching in the Master program is mandatory and will average 25% of the working time.
JTH has a long tradition in applied research in co-operation with enterprises in the region and at the national level. The applicant should have documented experience in applied research and an ambition to establish working relationships with industry. Basic research activities are welcomed and supported by JTH, but should not form the only funding source. Experience in attracting funding on the European level and in managing research projects or work packages would be beneficial.
Administrative experience from academic institutions would be of merit, as well as other relevant professional experience and demonstrated skills in leadership.
Professional command of the English language is a mandatory requirement and a professional command of the Swedish language is a merit.
