Production Leader Heavy Duty - Vara Plant

Volvo Penta Global Operations & Quality consists of plants in Sweden, China and the US. The Vara Plant in Sweden manufactures marine diesel engines and has approximately 210 employees.
The Marine Heavy Duty department manufactures diesel engines for use as propulsion engines and power generating engine sets. About 20 people work in the department with the assembly of engines with gear boxes and generators, classification, engine testing, painting, packing and inspection.
We put a strong focus on the customer in the department and the market for the engines is worldwide. We often have the customer at site while building and testing the engines.

We are now looking for a new manager for the Marine Heavy Duty department, who can continue to develop the business as well as the personnel according to the principals for Lean and VPS (Volvo Production System). The person we are looking for is a strong leader with focus on goals and results, and with a great interest in working with continuous improvements. The manager for the Marine Heavy Duty department has full responsibility for safety, quality, deliveries, cost, environment and personnel. In order to succeed in this role you should be a good communicator and able to energize your coworkers to reach our targets. We are looking for characteristics like initiative, courage and integrity, perseverance and drive for results.

The manager for the Heavy Duty Department will report to the Manager for Production and will be a part of the management team for production at the Volvo Penta Vara site.

Main activities and responsibilities
• Leading day to day operations
• Responsible for work environment
• Driving development of the department and continuous improvement through Volvo Production System
• Fully responsible for the department's results regarding safety, quality, delivery, cost, environment and personnel
• Developing the personnel and organization
• Representing the department in various projects
• Representing the department and Volvo Penta in contacts with customers during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
• Active member of the Production management team
• Qualifications and critical competencies for the position
