Working at Saab
Saab’s operations cover a large geographical area and many high-technology products and services. This gives you as employee unique opportunities to develop and grow within the group. We are also aware of the fact that all of us have a life outside the workplace and here at Saab we have a positive attitude to every individual’s need for balance in life. We are proud of being a company of choice; something that all our employees contribute to.
Saab serves the global market with world-leading products, services and solutions ranging from military defence to civil security. Saab has operations and employees on all continents and constantly develops, adopts and improves new technology to meet customers’ changing needs. Saab has about 12,000 employees. Annual sales are EUR 2,5 billion. Research and development corresponds to about 20 percent of annual sales.
Your workplace
Support and Services, a business area of Saab, supplies a wide range of services and integrated support solutions to customers in defence and on commercial markets for cost-efficient support of systems and platforms throughout their life cycle.
Our Radar and Avionics department consists of 170 employees and is mainly located in Arboga, Sweden. We work with radar systems for both ground and airborne platforms. We are also responsible for developing and ensuring operation of the advanced test system for radar and avionic components. A large proportion of our business is also carried out within the Airborne Early Warning area, where we develop, ensure operation of and maintain the customers' system.
You will be working in the Avionics section within the Radar and Avionics department, where we currently have 60 employees whose main task is to work on service and maintenance of electronics, avionics, radio and radar systems during the full life-cycle. The section is divided into four different areas of operation; the support system, civil avionics, military avionics and radar.
Our customers are spread over the entire world, although our predominant customers are currently the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) and the Swedish Air Force and work often includes close cooperation with the customer.
Your role
We are looking for a manager with a focus on production for our military avionics operations in Arboga. You will be working in a line organisation with production and development issues such as improving and streamlining the operations for which the section carries out maintenance.
You will be responsible for and contribute to the introduction of modern production methods in the section. You will also work on optimising existing processes and technologies, trouble shooting and problem solving in production. You will be responsible for ensuring that production achieves its set targets.
The work also includes responsibility for operations and follow up, technical investigations, analyses, documentation work and technical support for our customers. Travel for work will be a requirement.
Your qualifications
You are a qualified engineer at university level, specialising in production technology or equivalent. You have at least five years' experience of the manufacturing industry, preferably in electronics, and a number of years' experience in managing people. You have a background as, for example, a maintenance engineer, project manager or production engineer.
As a person, you are open, direct and clear. You have good leadership qualities and good communication and cooperation skills. You have a humble manner and are a good problem solver.
Since documentation exists in both Swedish and English and contact with suppliers abroad is necessary, it is important that you have good knowledge of both spoken and written Swedish and English.
The role involves work that includes military classified information and Swedish citizenship is a requirement.
There are good development opportunities within the company for the right person.
