We, Product Safety as a function within Quality and Customer Satisfaction, contribute actively to the vision of the Volvo Group by assuring the safety of our products throughout their complete life cycle. We see this as our role to secure the first prerequisite of customer satisfaction: safety.
We provide expert competence to assess potential safety related risks and issues during the complete product life cycle. Our team is involved in projects, maintenance activities, as well as in improvements of relevant processes and tools.
There is now an opportunity for you to join the Product Safety team as Product Safety Manager
Mission
Your mission is to identify potential safety related risks and issues for serial production vehicles operated in the market and on project vehicles wherever operated. You will secure that these issues are addressed according to the GTT processes with the right focus and urgency by giving support to the product quality organization as well as to engineering.
The scope also covers the components delivered by GTT to all Volvo Group Business Areas.
Main Activities, Responsibilities and Authority
• Act as first point of contact in GTT for potential safety related risks and issues
• Provide support to the product quality organization for thorough root cause analysis
• Contribute to the GTT log of potential safety related risks and issues
• Secure the technical documentation for potential safety related risks and issues to support the decision process in Product Safety Coordination Forum as well as Product Safety Working Groups and Product Safety Committees
• Lead lessons learned activities to prevent reoccurrence of potential issues
• Have the mandate to request corrective actions from engineering line management and an update of the steering documents.

The role is located in Gothenburg, Sweden and you will report to the Director Product Safety.

Qualifications
You hold a master degree or equivalent in a technical area and can lean on your combination of electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge. You possess at least basic statistical knowledge and have robust experience with product safety. In earlier roles you might even have been involved in accident investigations. You are familiar with Volvo quality systems and tools like QRAFT, QRS, QJ-Argus, Kola, Protus, Impact, COS etc. For the role as Product Safety Manager, it is important that you are knowledgeable about Volvo products at complete and systems level. A basic understanding of product liability and knowledge of industry standards on safety is important and will help you in your role.
