About the Position
GEL Evolution marks the next stage in ALS's digital journey - evolving our proven GEL Core (global enterprise ) system into a modern, modular platform built on microservices technology.
We're forming a strengthened global project team of Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, Testers, and technical experts to accelerate delivery.
You'll act as the bridge between global business needs and technical execution, guiding feature teams through discovery, design, and delivery. Depending on your expertise, you may own a major GEL domain such as 'Lab Workflows' or 'Result Entry' or a portfolio of smaller areas 'Field App' and 'Sample Storage'.
In addition to your Product Owner responsibilities, you'll also take on key Business Analyst duties, helping ensure requirements are well understood, documented, and delivered.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Collaboration
Lead and mentor Business Analysts.
Foster a collaborative and agile team environment.
Analysis & Requirements
Document current system state and identify improvement areas.
Facilitate workshops and conduct deep-dive workflow analysis.
Write clear, testable user stories and maintain requirement traceability.
Product Vision & Strategy
Define and communicate product vision aligned with transformation goals.
Develop actionable roadmaps balancing short-term and long-term needs.
Design & Innovation
Promote user-centric design and modern UX principles.
Collaborate with UX experts and suggest workflow enhancements.
Backlog Management
Consolidate and prioritize features into a clear product backlog.
Align business priorities with technical feasibility.
System Transformation
Lead migration from legacy systems to modern platforms.
Ensure data integrity and minimize disruption during transitions.
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as liaison between business, tech teams, and leadership.
Facilitate planning, demos, and feedback sessions.
Quality & Performance
Collaborate with QA and compliance to ensure robust testing and governance.
Work flexibly across time zones and adapt to regional needs.
Your Profile
We're looking for someone who brings a strong blend of strategic thinking, technical curiosity, and leadership capability - along with the people skills to drive collaboration across teams.
You'll thrive in this role if you have:
A solid work experience in either Laboratory Operations, Admin, Business Analysis or Project/Product Management
Ability to translate business needs into system change requirements
Experience facilitating workshops and stakeholder interviews
Leadership skills, with the ability to influence, guide, and align cross-functional teams
Excellent communication, prioritization, and organizational abilities
A global mindset and comfort working in remote, distributed teams
Flexibility to occasionally attend early morning or late evening meetings across time zones
