Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we're expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we're on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars' journey into the future.

We are looking for a Product Owner within Vehicle Material Efficiency to join our Sustainability Centre at the Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg.

Sustainability is one of the three pillars that make up the very life and soul of Volvo Cars, just as safety has been since the birth of the company. Our vision is to create sustainable mobility now and in the future for our customers.

Where you'll belong
You will belong to the Weight Management and IMDS Team.

Weight Management team's scope is to drive for light weight solutions and balance that with other attributes and stakeholders, setting targets at early stage to guide the continuing vehicle development, as well as keeping track of how the complete vehicle weight changes during the development process and finally set up homologation data for all markets. We also support the streams with training in simulation driven development and do CAE studies to support.

IMDS team's scope is all things connected to IMDS data (International Material Data System), which includes everything from developing the internal IMDS process and helping the organization follow it, to making sure our products are legal in terms of Substances of Concern, and that they are recyclable.

What's in it for you?
As a Product Owner, you will be part of developing next-generation premium Volvo Cars. You will be in the front of the development and make sure that upcoming work is prioritized to meet future targets on complete car weight.

Both teams, Weight Management and IMDS, are prioritized areas and requires a lot of collaboration to coordinate with other POs and all relevant stakeholders. You are a member of the extended Product Management team and review and contribute to the program-level vision. You will be part of defining roadmaps, capabilities and features in the backlog. This is a broad area that gives you a great opportunity to build a solid and holistic vehicle view.

What you will do
As Product Owner within Vehicle Material Efficiency your goal will be to minimize non-value-added work by owning and deciding upon priorities in the team backlogs.
In this role, you will work closely with the Scrum Master for the team, the Product Manager for your Team of Teams, and the development team. You will review and re-prioritize the backlog as part of the preparatory work for iteration, including coordination of content dependencies with other Product Owners, Stakeholders, Managers, Scrum Masters, and Product Managers. You will also enable collaboration and define the scope of upcoming work together with System Architects, Technical Experts, and Aspect Leaders to assist with decision-making and closing of strategical knowledge gaps.

You and your skills
We believe that you have a university degree or equivalent expertise with several years of experience working within a relevant area. You have experience from, and a positive approach to the Agile way of working and SAFe. It is an advantage if you have experience from the automotive industry. Also, previous experience in leading people is meritorious.

On a personal level, we believe you are a servant leader who can motivate and create confidence in the team. You possess strong communication skills and enjoy working with networking. You are outgoing and find it easy to collaborate with others. You are curious and continuously search for new knowledge. Your English is fluent, both written and spoken, and you have a proven ability to inspire, challenge and lead different teams as a servant leader.
