About us
The Agile Release Train (department) Electrical Infrastructure offers the possibility to work with a mixture of electrical distribution system (EDS), electrical system design, and electrical attribute areas, for all vehicle lines within Volvo Cars. We are now recruiting a Product Owner for the area of "Electrical Design" and this area is shared between two Product Owners. You will also be a part of the group 94150 Products & system which is a team consisting of highly skilled Product Owners and System Architects.
What you'll do
As a Product Owner of Electrical Design, you will manage and prioritize a backlog where the members of the development teams will execute stories from the backlog. You will have the final say regarding whether the product is ready for delivery or not. As a product owner your goal is to minimize non-value-added work, and you are responsible for the technical solution and quality of the products the teams are delivering. This requires close collaboration between designers and developers within the department, as well as across Volvo Cars' R&D organization, thereby increasing your network. The team manager and the scrum master(s) of the development teams and you will form a trio to lead the teams operationally and you will also be a member of the extended Product Management team in the department, lead by the Product Manager(s). Whilst Electrical Design have no actual physical deliveries they are responsible for the design and development of the complete vehicles electrical 'nervous' system leading to world class wiring harness designs. They are involved in Conceptual development including high level designs leading to the next generation of galvanic electrical structures. We integrate all electrical interfaces; balancing numerous requirements including Electrical performance, EMC, communication demands, Complexity and mechanical integration demands.
Areas of responsibilities and what will be expected of you:
• Review and reprioritize the backlog as part of the preparatory work for iteration including coordination of content dependencies with other product owners, stakeholders, managers, other Agile Release Trains (ART), scrum masters, teams, and the product managers.
• Set vision and roadmap for the product area and protect the long-term technical integrity of the features/components as well as defining future strategies.
• Accept or reject stories. Accepting a story includes validation that the story meets acceptance criteria and has the appropriate acceptance tests, and that it meets its Definition of Done.
• Ability & interest of keeping yourself updated in the tech area and your own network
• Responsible for updating and follow the department roadmap in the tech area.
• Handle & co-develop a growing organization.
• Understand the scope of the upcoming enabler work and collaborate with System and Solution Architect/Engineering to assist with decision-making and sequencing of the key technological infrastructures
• Participate as a member of the extended Product Management team and review and contribute to the program-level vision, roadmap, and content presentations
You and your skills
You are a person with a positive and open attitude, you are outspoken and a team player with the ability to assess different technical solutions. You are structured, costumer focused, self-driven and results oriented. We believe that you have strong communication and documentation skills. MSc / BSc in Electrical & Electronic engineering or Mechatronics. Minimum 5 years' experience in HW electrical system design. Fluent in English, written and spoken. We also think you have experience and understanding in development methodology principles, e.g., SAFe, Scrum, Lean, Kanban since Volvo Cars has transformed to the Agile Way of Working applying the Scaled Agile Framework. We have taken team work to the next level.
Good to have
Experience in MOSFET selection / Serial Interface Power Controller / Power Supply. Power distribution system development. HV and LV design experience. Creating/Drafting system designs/schematics. Grounding system development. Vehicle electrical architecture development. FMEA; System safety; EMC & ELP.
