The Transmission department task is to develop systems that transform power from the combustion engine or electric motors to the wheels. The main components areas are manual transmissions, automatic transmissions and AWD/driveshaft systems. Our vision is have world leading technology in order to support Volvo Car Groups vision: "Our vision is to be the world's most progressive and desired premium car brand".
This group is responsible for automatic transmission engineering at Volvo Car Group. The components we cover is gearboxes, gear shifters and flywheels/flexplates cross all programs and vehicles within Volvo Car Group. We are 12 persons in this group. In most areas we work together with system suppliers and we are involved from concept phase and industrialisation to quality and cost reduction in running production. The major challenges for the automatic transmission area are to achieve the highest efficiency for best fuel economy, world class shifting's and NVH behaviour, secure optimised torque capacity and durability and present shifters with good styling, high quality impression that are easy to use
As a Product Manager Automatic Transmission you are product responsible for new planetary transmission with converter technology.This transmission include the latest technology for best fuel consumption and good drivability. The work is based on working with international contacts but the position will be stationed in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Main responsibilities
• Be the main contact for technical concerns toward the supplier and to approve the technical solutions
• Lead the cross functional team to secure deliveries in time and to right cost and content
• Lead the development work to secure durability, functions and properties for the transmission in the vehicle
• Lead the work to solve all technical items related to the transmissions (VQDC etc.)
• Involved in the future strategies for the transmission
Required qualifications
• BSc or higher or equivalent working experience
• At least 7 years experience within relevant area
• Experience HW development within the automotive industry
• Knowledge of automatic transmissions is an advantage
• Fluent in English
• Driver's license B (car)
