JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Product Manager for APIs & Components it is important to enjoy spending time in the market to understand the partners & market needs, and based on that specify innovative solutions for the market. You must have broad experience from both business and technology, preferably from the video surveillance industry.
In this role you will have the main responsibility for our APIs and software components that are used by Axis Application Development Partners. You will manage the entire life cycle - from strategic planning to tactical activities. As Product Manager APIs & Components you will have high focus on driving integration processes towards our partners and promoting the solution values towards the general market. You will take lead and drive go-to-market plans and market activities for your area. You will drive new components and API concepts from first idea, as well as enhancing the existing API:s and components. You will also look at new business models within you area.
As product Manager you must be able to communicate with all areas of the company and you will work closely in a team with several product managers responsible for the capabilities that forms Axis’ firmware platform. You will get input from our entire product manager’s team as well as sales and the market on the interfaces and solutions needed. Within R&D you will work with project managers to define the use cases requirements and with an Engineering Manager to plan implementation actions and future development. In the way to market you will work with Marketing and Sales to define the go-to-market strategy and material to support launch. Key partners in your work are our Partner & Business Development Managers to drive the value of the new solutions to our development partners, collaborate in the launch of new solutions, and getting input to new solutions.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Excellent understanding of the competition and market needs
• Take an active part in activities to promote your solutions to development partners
• Inform and train the sales force at new firmware launches
• Define strategy and roadmap for APIs & Components
• Define solutions to meet and fulfill the strategy and roadmaps
The role involves around 40 days of travel a year.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Axis is looking for a socially skilled team player with the ability to manage and perform in a multi-cultural environment with international contacts. We believe that the suitable candidate has a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority. You have a structured way of solving and attacking tasks and issues, yet a flexible mindset, enjoy high pace and is open to changes.
The right candidate has a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a product manager or other equivalent experience. We think that you are knowledgeable in software development and have an excellent understanding of business and market dynamics. Solution knowledge about Video Management Systems as well as technical knowledge about Axis’ cameras is required for this position.
Apart from above we would like the successful candidate to have/be:
• Demonstrated success defining and launching solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English.
• Always open to customers and colleagues
SYSTEM & SERVICES TEAM
System & Services is globally responsible for system solutions, the service offering and technical solutions support. This includes product management for system functions and software, design and coordination responsibility for service and support offerings as well as project sales support and partner interface in technical and connected strategic matters.
